"The contingent labor program we were looking to create wasn’t yet on anyone’s radar at SCI,” said Mendy Hovan, talent acquisition specialist at SCI. “Our team knew the solution involved selecting a top-notch Managed Service Provider (MSP) and Vendor Management System (VMS)."

The SCI contingent management program included managing 1099s, temporaries and independent contractors, and larger statement-of-work contracts (SOWs). To capture everything, SCI developed a robust request for proposal (RFP) that included the following steps:

• Sending RFPs to several MSPs and tier one suppliers

• Choosing the MSP then selecting the VMS tool

• Selecting staffing partners

•  Conducting site visits to corporate headquarters

“SCI grouped the RFP responses to create focus areas we scored, such as, pricing, account management, customer service and the footprint of the provider based on the needs of SCI,” Hovan said. “The site visits were extremely insightful: we got to see ‘behind the curtain’ and this allowed us to evaluate information received from the RFP and see how in tune the various companies were to our unique program and goals.”
